Day 4

Well, Stewey was getting ready to head out since it was raining and it was expected to rain tomorrow as well. As he was getting ready, he placed his waterproof boots under a picnic table which was partially out in the weather and partially under the eve. Well, it started to rain harder and lucky Stewey, his boots were placed just right for water to funnel in. Yep, they are water tight. He poored about a two cups out of one boot. When I said "Let me get my camera", Stewey gave me the one finger salute. I asked for a reinactment but this was all I could get.

Stewey, CheapB and Wrongturn in some conversation.

This is the large trailer Stewey pulls behind his Nomad. His on his 3rd clutch. I wonder why. However, I don't think the new clutch will give him any more problems.

Stewey seems to have a problem with his bike riding trailers.

As you can see, another wet day. But this makes for good times just sitting around and talking. Many times this is what you remember more than the rides.

The front of the Cresent Hotel. Very nice looking hotel on top of a very steep incline. Wouldn't want to take that on an icy day.

Started walking downtown Eureka Springs. Parking was right here and the shops started there also.

One of the side streets going up a long hill. These are narrow streets and wouldn't want to get in stop and go traffic on these.

One of the many springs in the area. You could walk up a set of steps to get to the top. Too much effort.

This fountain was run off the spring. Either there was no water or they shut it off.

A shot of downtown Eureka Springs. There are many shops to visit. I did find a couple that I liked. One with prices I didn't. My wife would have loved this and I could have dropped her off in the morning and picked her up in the evening without a complaint from either of us. Well, I guess it would depend upon how much she bought.

My lunch that afternoon. Nacho's Supreme. Pretty good.

Sherm enjoying some ice cream at the VROC ice cream social.

CheapB and Mal keeping an eye out for the ice cream.

Oppps, looks like I've been had.
Well, this is it for the Reunion blog. We headed out the next day and made tail for Colorado. The weather forecast had changed and the weather did not look nice on Monday. We made it to Burlington before the weather moved in on us. Mal and Willey left for Limon, and I tried to make the decision of whether or not to push onward. Well, went north and ran into rain and lightning. Enough, turn around and head for a motel. Made it home the next morning in rain and 42 degrees.

Day 3

Here is the map of the trip that we took today (roughly). Jim (WrongTurn) and Mark (CheapB) decided to not go on the group ride. They were looking for roads to ride. I asked about going with them to see where my abilities are. You know I ride straights and don't get many opportunities to ride good twisty roads. Looking for twisties and boy did we find them. Good curves in many roads and several that felt like a roller coaster. Up and down.

Asked to find a good spot to park and get at least one set of pictures. Ask and yea shall receive.

View just south of Sparta, Missouri. Here are Jim and Mark (come on and take the stupid picture).

More from south of Sparta.

We talked to a farmer at that spot and he told us of roads to take and we eventually found this. The road ends in a lake and you take a ferry across. At one point on this road we did find some really nice banked roads. Both Mark and Jim left me behind but did find out Mark even left Jim behind. As Mark said "I just got in a zone, looked behind and "Where is everyone"". A short video of our ferry ride is at the bottom.

Here is the trusty guides. "Now which road do we want to take now???"

We ended up back in Eureka Springs after a nice long day of twisties. Asked both Mark and Jim how long they had to wait for me. The response was just a minute. At one point Jim stated "Well, I haven't had time to light my cigarette yet!". I think they were being really nice. But I think - Know that we all enjoyed the day.

Here is everyone getting ready to go to the Burger Barn. I didn't go on this ride but went on another ride.

Stewey and JameyT. Stewey must be helping Jamey with directions.

Joe and Flamekiller enjoying the conversation.

Flip, WrongTurn, and Shelby enjoying also.

Stewey, Zmean1 and Sherm. I think that Stewey is giving me the evil eye with the flash at this point. Zmean1 later on put down a challenge. Everyone was getting tired and ready to head for bed. She claimed we were wimps (nicer than what she said). Sooooo, we made sure she didn't get to bed to early in the morning.

Well, maybe Jim isn't enjoying the conversation. Or it was he was way passed his bed time.

Short video of our ferry ride.

Day 2

Well, we drove into Eureka Springs this morning. Foggy and drizzle for part of the way. Don (Bass man) led the way with Joe (Mal) and I following. Nice drive in and good roads even if they were wet. Made it to the Iron Horse for the event.

Here is Joe's (Mal) and my bikes in front of the room.

In the parking lot was a nice new Voyager. The blue and black paint was extremely eye catching.

Sherm having a discussion with JameyT and Trouble. Jamey appears to enjoy the discussion but what is Trouble doing?????

Nice fire in the evening. With his back to the camera is Piper with Badger next to him.

Piper, Stewey and CheapB. Looks like someone has cold feet. Hmm, I wonder if pants might help?

Stewey, Flamekiller, Mal, Magellin, and Rem enjoying some nice conversation with Stewey and Mal on the computer.

Everyone staying out of the rain.

CheapB and WrongTurn showed up. Here is CheapB best pose. CheapB is setting up with Sherm and Lucky Al watching.

Sherm and Al giving CheapB support while setting up.

Here is a picture out behind our rooms. As you can see a nice foggy and wet day.

It appeared the everyone had fun. I know I did. It is always nice to see people that you have met before and meeting new people. As you can see, the day was very wet and really no riding was done once we were there.

Day 1

Well, I move tail and didn't stop for pictures the entire day. I had miles to make and my fuel mileage was not exactly what I was expecting. Imagine that with going 80 mph into a headwind. Worst tank was around 30 and the best was 37. The route is posted above. Not an extremely scenic route but what is in Western Kansas.

Total for the trip was 675 miles in around 10 hours of driving time. Stopped in Kansas and Oklahoma. Not really windy but was generally nice weather. Made it into Bassman's home. They told me to go to town and call. Well I made it to town and called and was still over 5 miles away.

Here is my bike parked next to Malachi's wing. Bright isn't it.

A pond behind Don's house. It was a nice drive into his house even if it dark and somwhat wet.

Just getting the blog set up for VROC Reunion 2009. I will be leaving next week to Eureka Springs. This is a rally that I have wanted to attend for several years but have been unable to attend. This is the year!!!

Need to change the oil in the Nomad for the 2,000+ miles I will drive.
